Subject: how to link to a new page with flash rotate

Hello! I've just purchased this module and loving it so far. In fact, I'll be reviewing it shortly over on www.seablick.com.

Quick question. I'm creating a rotating slideshow of advertising banners. Trying to decide between html/rotate vs flash rotate.

I like flash rotate because it looks cooler. But, I can't seem to specify the click through link applied to the image opens in a new window. I'd rather not have my website disappear because someone clicks an Ad banner... I'd rather a new page open with the homepage of my advertiser, while leaving my website open as well.

Can this be done with the flash rotator?

Hi,
We are glad you like it. You currently can't specify a target in the flash rotator. We do plan on adding that in 4.0. I don't have a specific date, but I can tell you our roadmap is as follows. We have an update to digContest coming out in the next 2-3 weeks, then we will be releasing a new module 4-6 weeks after that. After that digRotate is going to get some love.

For the meantime, we could make you a flash rotator that either always links to a new browser or better yet, if the url is to an external site, open in a new window, else open in the current window. In case you want to put an "Advertise here" link in the middle of the flash rotator that directs to a page on your site.

Your solution "better yet, if the url is to an external site, open in a new window, else open in the current window" is exactly right for me in this situation. Really appreciate you offering to customize that for me.... absolutely!

Well, I could say you are getting special treatment, but if you look at some of these posts and ask our users, we help whenever we can. You'll even find a post I made on Christmas morning, moments before the kids came down to see what Santa brought! We'll get you that version tonight or tomorrow. You'll just have to update he .swf on your site, and if you ever re-install digRotate, you'll have to update the swf by hand again.
